Lancaster Roots & Blues 2019

Warm Up The Winter Blues

This time of year, many of us are wishing we could skip ahead to sunnier days. But instead of placing all our hopes on good old Punxatawney Phil, the people of Lancaster have found a better way to warm the soul – Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival!

The 2019 Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival features more than 70 rock, funk, soul, blues, jazz, folk and Americana musicians. Acts range from New York Blues Hall of Famer Garland Jeffreys to local favorites like Leo DiSanto and Vinegar Creek Constituency.

A City with Soul

Explore downtown Lancaster as you visit the best venues the city has to offer. Including icons in the Lancaster music scene like the Chameleon Club and local recording studio The SugarTank.

Start Friday evening at Tellus360. An Irish pub with a mission to be a true public house with great Irish beers and two unique stages. The Little Leroys kick off the weekend at 5pm on the main stage with your favorite rockabilly and Honky Tonk hits! Then wander back to the Temple at 6:15pm to witness the 2015 Detroit Queen of Blues Thornetta Davis. Her commanding voice and strong story telling are sure to blow you away, as will her track record. The Sub Pop signee has been on the scene since 1987. She has played with legends like Gladys Knight, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, Etta James and Bonnie Raitt.

For a real taste of Lancaster, you’ll want to hit up Zoetropolis. The local favorite art house theater has grown into a one-of-a-kind Cinema Still House with on-site micro distillery and restaurant that hosts movies, documentaries, live music and now plays. There on Friday at 8pm you’ll find Lancaster native Nina De Vitry. The emerging songwriter artfully weaves together a wide array of influences ranging from her father’s gypsy jazz band, Appalachian mountain folk and classical tunes.

Stop by the Commonwealth Ballroom to visit the Arts Expo. Shop 24 local artisans along with festival merchandise. And enjoy their beer garden and an intimate acoustic stage.
