The official beginning of summer is only a week away, and we are so excited to share some of our favorite summer traditions with you! This year, we’re offering new ways for our guests to get the most out of summer in Lancaster County.
Wednesdays beginning July 4, 2018 we will be hosting Summer Barbecues for guests of The Hollinger House. Join us down by the creek for juicy grilled burgers and hot dogs (turkey or veggie substitutes by request), cold brews and good tunes. The vegetable garden is already preparing plump tomatoes and crisp lettuce for the occasion. And, of course we’ll be lighting a campfire for marshmallow roasting!
These will be an informal, relaxed dinner option for guests to enjoy the grounds and the company of fellow guests and your innkeepers (weather permitting). Please let us know by that Tuesday if you plan on joining us the following day.
Get out to the ball game at the verdant Clipper Stadium to indulge in America’s pastime- and fresh, local Turkey Hill ice cream! Located in downtown Lancaster, an evening with the Lancaster Barnstormers is the perfect way to cap off your day exploring the unique shops, exceptional arts and music, and delicious farm-fresh food the city has to offer. Pack up your lawn chairs and picnic blankets and head to one of Lancaster County’s beautiful outdoor venues for a relaxing evening of great music and good company. With so many options, there’s sure to be something for everyone.
Now in its 56th year, the Summer Music Series is back at Long’s Park now through August 26th. Long’s Park is a gorgeous 80-acre city park on the northwest corner of Lancaster. Their three-acre spring fed lake, picnic pavilions, petting farm and fitness trail make it a great place to spend the day any day of the week, but their Summer Music Series is not to be missed! This free concert series offers live acts from every genre weekends starting at 7:30pm. Check out their website for schedule information.
Just 5 minutes from The Hollinger House, the 1719 Hans Herr House is the oldest original home in Lancaster County, but their Music in the Orchard concert series offers the best of Lancaster’s latest regional artists. Be there Saturdays now through August 4th at 6pm and enjoy a variety of acts including incredible vocalists, rocking bluegrass, funky soul and even Celtic folk. Concerts are held rain or shine, with an indoor venue available in case of rain. Tickets are $8 at the door.
Get a taste of our favorite local winery Saturdays June 30th through September 1st at Nissley’s Music in the Vineyards. Tickets are $18 and shows begin at 7:30. Bring your favorite bottle of Nissley wine, lawn chairs or a blanket, and a delicious picnic to enjoy during the show. And don’t worry, we can help you out with that.
This summer we will be offering picnic baskets filled with Theodore’s delicious home cooking for two and a blanket. Bring your picnic to any of these summer festivals or enjoy anywhere on The Hollinger House property. Give us a call for details!
